The Corvette has standard front seat tall, head-protecting side-impact airbags, which act as a forgiving barrier between the passengers and the door. Combined with high-strength steel door beams this system increases protection from broadside collisions. The GT doesn't offer side-impact airbags or side airbag protection for the head.

The Corvette’s standard pretensioning seatbelts also sense rear collisions and remove slack from the seatbelts to help protect the occupants from whiplash and other injuries. The GT doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Corvette has standard Automatic Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The GT doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The Corvette E-Ray has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The GT doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Corvette’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. The GT doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

The Corvette’s optional blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. The GT doesn’t offer a system to reveal objects in the driver’s blind spots.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Corvette’s optional Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. The GT doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

Both the Corvette and the GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and daytime running lights.

Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Corvette 2 years longer than Ford covers the GT. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the GT ends after only 3 years.

The Corvette’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the GT’s (6 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Corvette first among compact premium sporty cars in their 2023 Initial Quality Study. The GT isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 35 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Ford is rated lower.

The Corvette E-Ray’s standard 6.2 V8 hybrid produces 8 more horsepower (655 vs. 647) than the GT’s 3.5 turbo V6. The Corvette Z06’s standard 5.5 DOHC V8 produces 23 more horsepower (670 vs. 647) than the GT’s 3.5 turbo V6.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Corvette (except Z06)’s fuel efficiency. The GT doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Corvette has 3.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the GT (18.5 vs. 15.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

An eight-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Chevrolet Corvette, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the GT.

All wheel drive, available in the Corvette, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ford GT is not available with all wheel drive.

For better traction, the Corvette Z06/E-Ray’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the GT (F:275/30R20 & R:345/25R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:325/30R20).

The Corvette Z06/E-Ray’s 275/30R20 front and 345/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GT’s 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Corvette Z06/E-Ray has standard 21-inch rear wheels. The GT’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Corvette has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The GT doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Corvette can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The GT doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The front and rear suspension of the Corvette uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the GT, which uses torsion bars in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Corvette has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The GT doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

The Corvette Z06 Z07 Coupe handles at 1.16 G’s, while the GT pulls only 1.11 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Corvette Z06 Z07 Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the GT (21.9 seconds @ .99 average G’s vs. 22.7 seconds @ .97 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Corvette with Magnetic Ride Control’s turning circle is 3.6 feet tighter than the GT’s (36.4 feet vs. 40 feet). The Corvette’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the GT’s (38.1 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Corvette is 5.2 inches shorter than the GT, making the Corvette easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Chevrolet Corvette amounts to more than styling. The Corvette has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is lower than the GT (.35). A more efficient exterior helps the Corvette go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the Corvette get better fuel mileage.

The Corvette’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The GT doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.

The Corvette Coupe has a much larger trunk than the GT (12.6 vs. .4 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox and standard locking center console keeps your small valuables safer in the Corvette. The GT doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Corvette uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The GT uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The Corvette has a standard under hood light to help in making nighttime maintenance checks, adding fluids, etc. The GT doesn’t offer an under hood light.

An Oil Life Monitor is standard on the Corvette to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, air filter replacement, and transmission fluid replacement, based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Ford doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the GT.

The Corvette has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The GT doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

When two different drivers share the Corvette, the optional memory system makes it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver and front passenger’s seat positions, steering wheel position, suspension setting and outside mirror angle. The GT doesn’t offer a memory system.

The Corvette’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The GT doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Corvette offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, turn signal and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The GT doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Corvette detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The GT doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The Corvette’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. The GT doesn’t offer heated side mirrors.

When the Corvette with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The GT’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The Corvette’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The GT doesn’t offer the luxury of automatic dimming mirrors.

The Corvette offers optional heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the GT.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Corvette keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The GT doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the Corvette’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The GT doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The Corvette’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The GT doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Chevrolet Corvette offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console and for the rear passengers. The GT doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
